Mandy Cameron’s Crochet Hanging Basket Pattern:
Make an adjustable slip knot and ch3 (counts as 1tr)
Rnd 1: 11tr into first ch. Tighten slip knot and join with a ss to top of beginning ch3
Rnd 2: 5ch, (1tr, 2ch) 11 times, join with a ss in the 3rd ch of the beginning 5ch.
Rnd 3: Ss into the next 2ch space. 3ch (counts as 1tr), 2tr in same 2ch space, 1ch. (3tr, 1ch) 11 times. Join with ss to top of beginning 3ch. (36sts)
Rnd 4: 5ch, miss 1tr, 1tr in next tr, (2ch, miss 1ch space, 1tr in next treble, 2ch, miss 1tr, 1tr in next st), 2ch, join with a ss to 3rd ch of beginning 5ch.
Rnd 5: 3dc in every 2ch space around (72sts)
Rnd 6-8: 1dc in every stitch around.
As there are no increases in this round it will cause your work to curl up at the edge. This is intentional to start to create the cylindrical body of the cover.
Rnd 9: Ss into next st, 4ch, miss 1dc, (1tr in next dc, 1ch, miss 1dc) 34 times, join with ss to 3rd ch of beginning 4ch.
Rnd 10: Ss into next ch space, 4ch, (1tr in next ch space, 1ch) around, join with ss to 3rd of beginning 4ch.
Rnd 11-12: Repeat round 10
Rnd 13: Ss into next ch space, 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in same ch space, (2tr in next ch space) around, join with ss to top of beginning 3ch.
Rnd 14: 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in every treble st around, join with ss to top of beginning ch3. Do not fasten off, continue as follows:
Create Hanging Chains:
Chain 100, miss 35tr on top edge and dc in the next st, fasten off.
Rejoin yarn at stitch number 18 on top edge, work 100ch and fasten to edge at stitch number 54 with 1dc. Fasten off, sew in ends.
Cut 30 pieces of yarn each 30cm long. Divide into 6 lots of 5. Fold in half and tie round alternate treble stitches on round 2. Trim ends to make them even.
And there you have it! Now, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a table or shelf to hold that gorgeous new houseplant you’ve had your eye on… just find an empty spot on the wall, and hang it!
