Mason Jar Luminaries

These mason jar luminaries are such a fun and festive craft project. By switching up the size of the jars or the wording, you can create a really unique holiday decoration. I recommend using straight sided mason jars that have a smooth finish, and electric tea lights – especially if there are small children around.

I love the frosted letters on these jars as they give out such a soft, ambient light. The perfect thing for a holiday mantel or table decoration.

Materials List

  • Start by spraying your mason jars all over with the Frosted Glass spray in a well ventilated area or outside. Allow the jars to dry thoroughly – we left ours overnight.

  • Remove the letter stickers from their backing paper and pat onto a piece of fabric to reduce their tackiness. Place a letter sticker on the front of each mason jar and check that they are at the same height.

  • Using the metallic gold spray, spray each mason jar entirely and cover the letters. You can also spray paint the mason jar lids if you want a more cohesive look.

  • Once the gold paint is completely dry, peel back the letter stickers to reveal a ‘frosted’ letter impression.

  • Tie rope around the top of the jars and hang a jingle bell from the loose ends. Place an electric tea light inside each jar and pop on the lids.
