Hey Hey Crafters, I’m writing my very first blog entry because I’ve just made my very first crafting project, without the help of anyone and I couldn’t be more pleased or proud!

Prima Watercolors

For those who don’t know my background, I worked for the last 23 years in the television and radio industry and have never crafted anything in my 41 years!  After joining the Create and Craft team in January, I’ve slowly been learning from our demonstrators and guest’s about different types of crafting projects and the techniques.  I’ll be honest, it’s a little intimidating entering this new world, so I wanted my first project to be easy and enjoyable and without much skill or experience needed, it had to be something that I could do without the help of a pro!  After featuring the Prima Watercolor pencils, coloring books and water brushes on our show, I knew I had found the perfect first project for me!

So, I set up shop in my hotel room and with the Prima water brushes it was so easy, as the water is inside the pen/brush chamber and you simply squeeze as much or as little as you need.  The Prima watercolor pencils also come in a nice tin box where they will always be stored safe, never lost and in perfect condition to last for many more paintings to come!  The color book included in the Prima kit was full of so many fun designs, it was hard to choose, however knowing I wanted to create this first project for my mom and dad, the perfect choice was the flowers with the sentiment in the middle that reads “You’re My Everything”….I just knew they would love it, now, if I could only do it!

Not only was it totally relaxing, fun and therapeutic, but I was able to watch my favorite tv shows while I was painting!  It took about two hours to create this watercolor painting and I was truly channeling my inner Lou Collins and Angela Johnson, the two demonstrators who gave me those valuable top tips on how to utilize different techniques for different type of effects within my painting.  So there you have it, it’s official, with my first craft project under my belt I’ve graduated from non-crafter to crafter and what a wonderful community to be a part of!  I totally recommend the Prima Watercolor kit for kids and adults and I can’t wait to get cracking on my next masterpiece!

Happy Crafting!

  • I do not enjoy watching Amy. She is a bit too blue collar for me. Most American crafters enjoy a bit of class & sophistication–more professionalism–not the car salesman type!

  • Aly, This is fantastic for your first project. You’ve done some wonderful sharing on the flowers and I love what you did in the center behind the sentiment. I am sure your parents will love it! Congratulations on your transition from non-crafter to crafter!

  • Hi Aly! What a beautiful first project!!! I think you made a great choice for a first project. Keep crafting and soon you will be a demonstrator too. Lol! 🙂

Enjoy your new hobby. It is addicting though!

  • Good job, Aly! I know your parents are going to love it! It’s fun watching you learn to craft on Create & Craft! Hang in there and good luck with all your new endeavors!

  • Hi, All! I just have to tell you how impressed I am with your watercolor project! I love the choice of colors that you used. After seeing your project, I had to give it a try myself, and I have been enjoying using these watercolors so much! Thanks for the inspiration that you’ve given me!
    Keep having fun!
